Scripture Reading: Job 38:1-18
Chess--Kingdom of Light vs. Kingdom of Darkness--God has set the boundaries. Boundaries are defined and it is impossible for us to go outside them.
Job 38:8-11—God’s rule of creation
Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Brake up—appointed it, broke off or measured off limit. Stayed—a limit set to it.
--God has a revealed will—stuff He has told us that will happen—It is fulfilled literally, but not often the way we literally take it beforehand.
PROPHECY--Kingdom of Light wins.
1 Corinthians 2:7-10
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:]8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.]9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.]
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Ordained--before there was worldly wisdom or the world itself God had this set up.
-- prophecy is never full, there are things God keeps secret for a time so we don’t mess it up. But Spirit has revealed—we don’t know it through intuition, but through revelation.
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Lord of heaven—Sovereign ruler of heaven. Nations come and go based on God’s plan. Time of the Gentiles, my hour has not yet come. Feel after Him—a groping in the dark. Not far from us, but we’ve muddied the waters. Romans 1:19—that which may be known of God is manifest in them. 2:16—works of the law written in their hearts.
—God doesn’t need us, He sets the boundaries.
--God wrote the rules. You cannot violate the rules but within the rules there is plenty of variation in what you can do.
--We’re not here to win the fight for God; Jesus Christ became a part of creation and He will win. Our role is to follow our commander, who died for us, we die for Him. Meek inherit the earth. Set affections above. Treasure in heaven.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.]3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Living sacrifice—dead animals don’t do anything. Living implies a dedication for service, our reasonable service. Spiritual gifts is context and the many members in one body—we work together as all pieces of chess board work together to win.
--God’s will is what God desires. God has given us very specific revelation as to what He wants from us, then there’s a large portion of life He just doesn’t address. In those we apply what we revealed to determine what to do.
1) Our job is to be like Christ, humble servant who came to save.
2) God takes care of the world. Don’t worry. Follow Christ. The world fights and argues and has no peace, don’t buy into their system. Christ wants to know who are His by how well they lay themselves down, not how well they yell and scream.
