What does the Bible say about Justice?
We live in an unjust world. We are all born unjust. We will be unjust.
The only thing that will change us is if we get justified.
Romans 3:26--To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. The Gospel is our message.
If you’re worried about injustice in the world
1) share the Gospel 2) do justly
Micah 6:8—we know how unjust other people are, how just are you!?
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Anger—James 1:20--wrath of man does not work righteousness of God
Courts—1 Corinthians 6:7
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
Matthew 5:25—only with Christians?
Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Might—Matthew 5:30--But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Ephesians 4:32--And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
1 Peter 2:23--Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
Government—Romans 13:4—honor as you’ll need them at some point!
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Money—James 2:6—your life is grass, you die, idiots get your money
But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
There is nothing in the Bible about trying to fix the world’s unjust systems.
Jesus never addressed the corrupt government, slavery, nothing. Nor did the apostles. Philemon
They pointed it out, obviously had a problem with abuses.
But all they did in response was preach the Gospel. It remains the only answer.
Again, we mostly believe a powerless Gospel. We don’t think the Gospel changes people’s lives, Preaching the Gospel seems like the most ineffectual way to deal with injustice to us. But it’s what the Bible says.
The Gospel always leads to righteousness. Always. Nothing else does.
